Kin Roth was upset. He stood looking over his charts, and the data from the attack on Coruscant. Information was still coming in, but even this was upsetting. He should have had the full picture in his hands in a concise format, before he had even left the city planet. Instead, he was still getting reports of events that occurred during the war, and it had effectively been over for days.
He looked at the reports, once more, and walked out of the room. If he remained this frustrated, he would burst a blood vessel. He walked out of the complex that housed the war room, and into the outskirts of the city. He needed to clear his head, and review what he already knew.
The recon, and intelligence gathering mission to Korriban had gone very badly. The Sith had foreseen their incursion, and had arrived with the full force of their fleets, within hours of the mixed Mandalorian, and Jedi forces landing. The assumption that the Sith would be to busy elsewhere to notice a small force stealing their precious holocrons, and datacards, proved to be very wrong indeed. Kin was nearly killed as a result, and had the Sith Blade not healed him intending to use him in a plot of his own, He would not have survived that encounter.
The Space portion of the battle, had proved to be a bit more beneficial, with Kin and Rimaldo managing to disable Vader’s personal Flagship, by detonating a bay full of proton torpedoes. Overall, Korriban had been a failure, for the Jedi, and the Mandalorians. They had been forced to fall back, by superior numbers, and the Siths stubborn refusal to allow their planet to come under someone else’s hand.
The war had then moved to two other fronts. The Sith split their forces, and assaulted Mandalore, and Felucia simultaneously. Kin still had to stop and take a breath, in order to maintain a steady train of thought, whenever he thought of the boots of those hut'uun, on Mandalorian soil. It boiled the blood. Kin had another run in with the Sith Blade, that had ended worse for Blade than it had for Kin. The Mandalorians had taken more losses than Kin felt they should have, but they gave as good as they got, and the Sith ended up retreating. But not before Vader killed the Jedi Rimaldo Lerak, and his wife. Rimaldo was the man that had hired Kin in the first place. His death struck a serious blow to the war effort.
Kin had received many reports from Felucia. The Sith contingent that had struck there had shown no mercy, and before they had left, they had razed large sections of the planet, leaving the force sensitive inhabitants in a great deal of pain. The alien called Masarai Shai had reappeared, and Kin was still unsure of what to make of him. He appeared to be allied with Fel, but his true motives seemed to be centered on Grievous. He had retrieved Fel from the mega sarlacc, and somehow in the interim between Felucia, and the assault on Coruscant, had enhanced the Felucian Jedi Master, on a genetic level. Kin was amazed by the large warriors abilities, but had no idea if he was to be trusted.
Thinking about issues of trust, led him to Vjun. While fighting Blade, on Mandalore, he had received a holo-recording from Xin, Rimaldos trusted friend. Rimaldo had just been struck down, and Xin was gravely injured. Kin watched the holo-recording, and decided to follow through on the mission that Xin had been entrusted with. Which meant he had to retrieve The lightsabers of Lerak from the Sith Lord Darth Vader.
On Vjun, Kin had led a crack squad of Mandalorians equipped with Ysalamiri into the secret fortress of Vader, and after a few set backs, they had made it to the top of the Fortress where they encountered Vader himself. Vader was meeting with Blade, who had just come out of surgery, to repair the damage done by Kin on Mandalore.
Eviscera had shown up shortly thereafter, and all hell broke loose. Kin managed to talk Vader into relinquishing one of the sabers, before he fled, leaving Kin and his commandos to deal with Eviscera, and Blade. The majority of the Mandalorians had died at the hands of Blade, when Kin deemed it an appropriate time to flee the scene. Diving off of the top of the tower, and para-gliding into the ocean proved to be effective, but not something Kin wanted to try again.
Kin had taken the Saber from Vader in order to grant Rimaldo his last wish. He had asked that Xin raise his child, and make sure he grew up to know what it meant to be an honorable man. Being one of the last to see Rimaldo alive, Kin felt that he was duty bound to fulfill the mans mission. He sought out the son of Lerak, finding him on Coruscant, only to discover that the Sith had gotten to him first.
Coruscant had been a complete debacle. From beginning to end, the operation was botched. Kin was surprised to find that Bane, a Sith lord that had defected on Korriban, and joined the war on the side of the Jedi, had activated his sleeper cells of Mandalorian soldiers, and had used them to infiltrate the temple.
His plan to remove the empress, and destroy the Sith order had gone horribly wrong, when the bounty hunters hired to help him, had decided to work for the Sith Order instead. The Empress was injected with Glitteryll, causing her to lose her memories. Kin had taken swift advantage of this fact, and attempted to spirit her away, but his desire to fulfill his word to Rimaldo had taken his attention from the Empress, and led him to Saturnis Lerak.
While Kin was meeting with Saturnis, Bane fled the scene of the main battle, in pursuit of the Empress. In the mean time, Vader Blade, and Starkiller, exposed their plot to remove Grievous as the head of the Sith Order. Which is apparently what Vader and Blade had been discussing on Vjun, when Kin had shown up to retrieve the laghtsabers. The unknown alien Masarai Shai had ceased in his assault on Grievous, and began to try to kill the interlopers that would dare hinder his revenge. The entire situation then escalated into chaos, as Grievous struck down Blade, and ordered the temple destroyed. Kin had not been there at the time, but as sealed his deal with Saturnis, he heard the bombers beginning their runs.
Kin caught up with the Speeder that contained the Empress, and now Bane, who had caught it in transit. He boarded the speeder, only to find Bane trying to weave his own web of lies, to take advantage of the Empresses memory loss. After a short verbal battle, Kin succeeded in convincing Shia to come with him, and leave Bane to his plotting. They dropped Bane off at his starship, and promptly set a course for Mandalore.
Kin had been here for days, sifting through the information, trying to sort fact from rumor, as he waited for the Empress to recover. He had heard that Grievous had dropped his Sith name, and title, and after much deliberation had decided to become an Assassin for hire. Supposedly he even given up his droid armies, and truly became a solo act. Kin knew he was a former enemy, but he felt sure he could think of a few uses for him, given time.
Kin looked up, and saw the he had walked several miles out of Keldabe. He sighed, and turned, to start the long walk back.
